About the Role

The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to teach a course on High Performance Computational Algorithms. This exciting opportunity will allow you to share your expertise in advanced numerical methods and algorithms with a diverse group of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures and tutorials on high-performance computational algorithms, covering topics such as parallel numerical algorithms for linear algebra problems, low and mixed-precision floating-point methods, data assimilation and optimization techniques, gridding approaches, and machine learning algorithms.
  • Provide guidance and support to students throughout the course, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Assess student understanding through assignments, exams, and other evaluation methods.
  • Stay current with advancements in high-performance computing and related fields.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline with a specialization in computational algorithms.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject matter, including a strong understanding of mathematical and numerical theory, programming concepts, and algorithm implementation.
  • Experience teaching or mentoring students in a higher education setting is preferred.
  • A background in mechanical engineering and licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional engineer in one of the provinces of Canada.

Instruction Mode:

This course will be delivered online using an established platform. The University encourages instructors to develop skills for effective online teaching.
