About the Role

The Financial Analyst supports accurate financial reporting, compliance, and planning through reconciliations, database management, and analysis. Reporting to the VP, Finance, responsibilities include assisting with budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, management reporting, and government reporting. The role also involves improving controls and financial systems, supporting related change initiatives, and presenting solutions.

This role offers a range of exciting tasks, including:

  • Processing transactions into the General Ledger
  • Reconciling ledger accounts to other financial records, resolving discrepancies promptly to maintain data integrity
  • Building, maintaining, and updating financial databases for tracking financial metrics, forecasting, and historical data analysis
  • Performing financial analyses to provide data and insights to the VP, Finance for budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow planning
  • Supporting managerial and external reporting requirements, ensuring compliance and clarity
  • Developing and maintaining processes to ensure financial data is stored accurately and that records are organized effectively for audits and financial reviews
  • Validating accuracy of work and that of colleagues to ensure reports are accurate
  • Supporting tax remittance process and maintaining required financial documentation in alignment with regulations and policies
  • Aiding with the enforcement of finance and corporate policies as relates to financial expenditures
  • Assisting with change management initiatives related to finance systems, helping to integrate new tools or updates smoothly
  • Responding to financial requests from the Senior Leadership team and providing information as needed
  • Collaborating with colleagues on the Finance team and sharing duties to achieve overall team goals and deadlines
  • Providing recommendations for process or system improvements
  • Acting as a resource and backup for payroll functions when necessary
  • Working with internal team members to improve BioTalent Canada's accounts receivable collections
  • Supporting lead generation efforts alongside regular requirements
What You Will Bring

To succeed in this role, you will need to bring the following:

  • A positive and affable team player who thrives in high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated bookkeeping experience and full-cycle accounting support in a small business
  • Experience with ERP software for small businesses, preferably SAGE 50 or Quickbooks
  • Experience in supporting system changes, including testing new processes and implementing updates
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
  • Proficiency in financial data analysis to identify trends, variances, and insights for decision-making
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple competing tasks/priorities
  • Ability to work autonomously, take ownership of projects, and present solutions
  • High attention to detail, data accuracy, and motivation for continuous quality improvement
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline, such as accounting, finance, or business, or equivalent experience

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.
