Job Title: Equipment Operator

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our team in Grande Pointe, MB. As an Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating and/or having the ability to operate various equipment including excavator, front loader, bulldozer, or other heavy equipment and/or steer equipment to bale, load and move waste material.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate equipment at assigned sites, using steering wheel, shifters, levers, buttons, and pedals.
  • Communicate with coworkers in the field and/or office regarding work activities, requirements, and priorities for the workday.
  • Conform to all applicable federal, state/provincial, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and other orders, as well as company policies, procedures, and directives from supervisors.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrate ability to follow instructions and work under little supervision.
  • Apply common sense understanding to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in a standardized setting.
  • Ability to perform the four basic functions of math and to be able to read and understand the meaning of equipment gauges.
  • Must be able to frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Willing to perform manual labor when required.
  • Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment operating experience.
