About the Role
Reporting to the Director of the Translational Institute of Medicine (TIME) and the Associate Directors, this position is located at the Queen's CardioPulmonary Unit (QCPU). The incumbent will provide procurement and planning support for the TIME Core project, a large-scale Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides subject matter expertise for the procurement process, including approving purchase orders, confirming proper signing authority, and negotiating terms with suppliers.
- Sources qualified vendors and ensures opportunities for competition for university business.
- Develops relationships with internal clients and external suppliers.
- Acts as a resource to researchers, staff, students, and external partners regarding procurement policies, systems, and procedures.
- Evaluates vendor performance, confirming expectations are met, and resolving issues as they occur.
- Coordinates the establishment, maintenance, and operation of TIME Core and QCPU facilities.
- Assists with reporting, metric tracking, and grant preparation.
- Provides assistance with health and safety training of students and staff.
- Ensures the TIME Core project complies with all funding agency policies, guidelines, rules, conditions, and deadlines.
- Facilitates smooth acquisition and installation of research infrastructure.
Required Qualifications:
- Four-year university degree in Health Sciences or equivalent.
- At least 3 years experience in an academic research laboratory setting, familiarity with health and safety compliance standards.
- Experience in procurement of scientific equipment is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in advanced English.
