Job Title: Counsellor to Students

The Michener Institute of Education at University Health Network is seeking a Counsellor to Students to join our Student Success team. As a Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our post-secondary students enrolled in allied health programming.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic and personal support services to students, including guidance and counselling on mental health, academic performance, and personal growth.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and training programs to support student success and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assess and address student concerns, including mental health issues, academic challenges, and personal crises.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote student engagement, motivation, and retention.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Counselling or a related field.
  • Membership in a professional counselling organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of post-secondary student issues and challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Satisfactory Canadian Police Clearance document required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in group counselling and workshop facilitation.
  • Knowledge of anti-oppressive practice, psychodynamic, CBT, DBT, trauma-informed, and somatic counselling models.
  • Experience working with post-secondary students with diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
