The Role

This is a permanent, full-time position that requires working on-site, primarily from assigned Vancity community branches within the Lower Mainland and/or Vancouver Island.

As a Branch Maintenance Technician, you will ensure that Vancity branches and commercial premises meet safety, security, sustainability, and service objectives.

  • Plan and schedule regular building maintenance for assigned zones of 15-20 branches, meeting business needs.
  • Provide service to branches for planned preventative maintenance and minor repair work (furniture repairs, minor building repairs, painting, lighting, material disposal, appliance replacement).
  • Respond to emergent issues (fires, leaks/floods, heating, plumbing, alarms, exterior/roofing issues) and coordinate trade responses.
  • Coordinate and/or perform technical work consistent with agreed-upon timelines, regulatory requirements, and established standards.
  • Participate in optimizing work processes and systems, troubleshooting activities that facilitate operational efficiency, mitigate risk, and achieve results.

You will also provide on-call support during evenings and weekends in rotation with colleagues, ensuring the Real Estate, Facilities, and Procurement team can respond to non-working hour emergencies.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Recognized training courses in technical skills and trades related to Facilities Management and Building Operations.
  • A valid British Columbia Driver's License, with a responsible and safe driving record. Ability to travel to branches and on-site capital projects.
  • Broad construction or Facilities maintenance-related work experience.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with branch staff and external stakeholders.

We offer an attractive benefit package that can be customized and changed each year to meet your evolving needs.

New employees receive three weeks of vacation allowance per calendar year, which grows to a maximum of six weeks per year as your length of service increases.
