Job Title: Recreation Consultant

Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking a Recreation Consultant to join our Sports and Wellness department on a full-time continuing basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, coordinating, promoting, implementing, and evaluating recreation leagues, tournaments, and events. Key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities
  • League Programming: leading league registration, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating day-to-day operations of leagues, including assessing and responding to all needs and inquiries.
  • Leadership: assisting the Recreation Supervisor in the hiring process for student staff, providing training, supporting, coaching, and mentoring of student staff, and developing and delivering League Staff training.
  • Tournament and Event Programming: planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of tournaments and events, creating, modifying, and updating tournament and event offerings per trends, popularity, and feedback.
  • Marketing and Promotions: preparing, developing, and distributing promotional materials, creating social media content for the Recreation department, drafting league and tournament program guide text, and discussing Sport and Wellness programs and services with patrons at marketing events.
  • Strategic Planning: offering changes and updates to the Recreation Supervisor about policies, procedures, student staff orientation, and training materials, and working with the Recreation Supervisor in updating and discussing goals, objectives, values, mission, and vision statements for the Recreation department.

Requirements

  • Standard First Aid/CPR C, WHMIS, Oxygen Administration.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends (as programs require).
  • Successful incumbent will be required to obtain a Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check at their own cost.
