Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality nursing care to patients, including complex patient populations, in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
  • Practice within the Professional Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario and adhere to the Hospital's Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Identify and respond to abnormal or unexpected patient responses, taking appropriate action to ensure patient safety.
  • Manage multiple nursing interventions simultaneously, prioritizing patient needs and ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, promoting a culture of respect and empathy.
Requirements
  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BCLS).
  • Recent knowledge and experience in Surgical Nursing, including care for pre and postoperative surgical patients.
  • Ability to use the Nursing Process to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Surgical Nursing or recent continuing education in this area.
  • Certification in Wound Care.

Language Requirements

As a proposed designated position under the French Language Policy (HR-esa-12) Level 2 - French Language Skills according to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre's Oral Proficiency Scale are required.
