About The Role:

We are seeking a collaborative litigation lawyer to join our team as Counsel, reporting to the General Counsel. The successful candidate will work across various administrative law and litigation matters, focusing on student and employment-related issues, and advise on policy drafting and interpretation.

The ideal candidate will have experience in general litigation and labour and employment law, preferably advising clients in the educational or public sector. This role suits a lawyer with excellent judgement and exceptional communication skills, able to manage multiple projects and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Job Description:

  • Work across a wide range of administrative law and litigation matters
  • Advise on policy drafting and interpretation, particularly in relation to student and employment issues
  • Partner closely with departments across the university to provide practical advice on risk and policy matters

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in general litigation and labour and employment law
  • Experience advising clients in the educational or broader public sector an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. York University offers a hybrid working environment, excellent benefits, and strong mentorship and development opportunities.
