Arborist Position

The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a highly skilled Arborist to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining all municipally owned trees within the Town of Ajax, including those located on boulevards, parks, facilities, and woodlots.
The Arborist will perform a variety of tasks, including tree pruning, removal, and stump removal, as well as implementing the Town's plant healthcare program. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing direction to full/part-time, seasonal and summer staff as required.
The ideal candidate will have a 2-year College diploma in arboriculture or a related field, combined with 3 years' experience or equivalent combination of training and experience. They will also be certified as an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist in good standing.
The Town of Ajax offers a comprehensive benefit package, including paid sick and vacation leave, Employee & Family Service Program, Health & Wellness Program, Town of Ajax Fitness Centre membership, and a defined benefits pension (OMERS pension).
The successful candidate will be required to work a 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and be available for winter call-out purposes as required.
The Arborist will also be responsible for assisting with snow clearing operations as required, manually or with equipment, to ensure the public's safety.
