Job Summary

The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, reprocessing, and preparation of reusable medical and surgical equipment, specialty supplies, instrumentation, procedure, and surgical trays. This role requires strong technical skills, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate and reprocess reusable medical and surgical equipment
  • Prepare and package equipment for use
  • Perform quality control checks on equipment
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure equipment is available and functioning properly

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • CSAO Techniques Course or equivalent course
  • Recent relevant experience with a minimum 1-2 years technical/reprocessing experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation and manual dexterity in handling and preparation of complex surgical instruments
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team and encourage teamwork
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to read, write comprehensively, and understand English
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Able to lift and carry heavy items, push and pull carts, stand and walk for prolonged periods, and perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work with cleaning agents and germicides and wear personal protective attire
