Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in providing high-quality care to individuals experiencing problematic substance use. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide and coordinate the delivery of nursing care services, including assessment, referrals, counseling, and health promotion activities.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interprofessional care team.
  2. Provide direct nursing care to clients, including administering medications, conducting physical and psychosocial assessments, and monitoring client progress.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to identify and resolve client/family issues.
  4. Provide education and support to clients and their families on topics such as illness prevention, health maintenance, and health promotion strategies.
  5. Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care.
  6. Act as a clinical resource and support person to clients, families, and nursing and healthcare professionals.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
Qualifications

Graduation from an approved nursing program with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Completion of approved addictions or substance use training, or substance use certificate program, and one year's recent related experience working in an addictions environment with individuals with substance use disorders, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and abilities include the ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessments, provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions, and communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
