Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist II to join our team at PHSA. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for providing occupational therapy assessments and treatment programs for clients/patients in the Medical and Surgical units.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct occupational therapy assessments using advanced clinical reasoning and skill to identify client/patient needs and develop treatment plans.
- Develop and implement occupational therapy treatment programs for clients/patients, including developing innovative solutions to assessment and treatment issues.
- Document client/patient information, including relevant clinical data, assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and outcomes.
- Assess the need for specific client/patient equipment and assist clients/patients and families to obtain equipment to meet individual needs.
- Maintain communication with clients/patients and families to foster optimal progress and develop supportive, collaborative, and therapeutic relationships.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary groups and teams to ensure quality care is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
- Participate in professional committees and teams to promote improvements in occupational therapy and interdisciplinary practice.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate in Occupational Therapy and licensure with the College of Health Care and Professionals of British Columbia.
- Two years of recent related experience, including one year in pediatrics or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- 50 hours of post-graduate coursework or training related to additional procedures, techniques, and job functions for assigned area.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, one-on-one, and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, motivator, and facilitator.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and materials.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to critically appraise research evidence.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
