Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our team in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise in water resources and hydrotechnical engineering, with a focus on river engineering, dam safety, and hydropower development.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Water Resources Engineering: Support studies and projects related to water resources and water management, including river engineering, dam safety, and hydropower development.
  2. Hydrotechnical Engineering Analyses: Conduct hydrotechnical engineering analyses and designs, including design event estimation, river flow regime studies, dam designs, and water conveyance designs.
  3. Technical Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports, drawings, specifications, and correspondence related to hydrotechnical engineering projects.
  4. Due Diligence: Support due diligence assignments related to hydropower project financings and acquisitions.
  5. Business Development: Contribute to the development of client relationships and business, and write proposals related to hydrotechnical engineering services.
Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  1. Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources and/or Civil Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics.
  2. 10+ years post-graduation Hydrotechnical Engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in Canada in a multidiscipline environment.
  3. Registered, or eligible to be registered, and licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  4. Project experience in a variety of Civil Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics applications, including flood risk analysis, control and protection, hydropower development, water management planning, water resource assessments, and dam safety and rehabilitation.
  5. Hands-on experience in specialized hydrologic modelling tools (HEC-HMS or similar) and open-channel hydraulics modelling 1D, 2D (HEC-RAS or similar), including GIS based applications in support of engineering studies or designs.
  6. Carried out dam safety analyses and reviews using the Canadian Dam Association Dam Safety Guidelines and the MNRF's Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act Technical Bulletins.
  7. Team focused with excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of multidisciplinary projects.
  8. Client responsive; a history of successful business development would be an asset.
  9. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  10. Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.

Preferred:

  1. Previous consulting engineering experience.
  2. Postgraduate education (M.Sc., M.Eng. or equivalent).
  3. Multilingual, particularly Spanish and French.
