Job Summary

This temporary position offers an exciting opportunity to work with our Affordable Housing Fund or Canada Greener Affordable Housing fund teams or the Apartment Construction Loan Program as a Specialist, Multi-Unit Underwriter (Housing Program). You'll apply your financial analysis skills and passion for building strong client relationships to achieve government program objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply sound judgement and decision-making practices based on complex financial analysis while making recommendations.
  • Maintain quality relationships with clients to understand their needs and objectives and explore opportunities.
  • Review, prioritize and approve loan, subsidy and contribution applications while assessing financial viability.
  • Manage risk by exercising prudence and due diligence while reviewing, assessing and approving applications.
  • Work in partnership with clients, stakeholders, and various levels of government by offering advice, support and alternative solutions.
  • Communicate decisions, interpreting policies and responding to inquiries related to CMHC's housing programs.
  • Provide input to shape functional policies, products, and processes.
  • Prepare briefing notes, submissions, issue papers, dockets, and responses to Ministerial and Presidential correspondence related to the delivery of CMHC's Housing programs.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Commerce and five (5) years' experience in construction financing, real estate, financial markets or credit risk analysis for Multi-Unit properties.
  • Demonstrated experience working with financial viability and loan approvals.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing, evaluating and prioritizing loans, subsidies and/or contribution applications.
  • The ability to research issues, analyze problems, synthesize information and make recommendations.
  • The ability to manage files and issues (sensitive in nature) using critical thinking and judgement.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

About the Role

This temporary position has a duration of 24 months and requires some in-office presence, but alternative work arrangements may be considered for Indigenous candidates.
