Job Title: Veterinarian, Critical Care

Location: Ottawa, ON

VCA Canada is seeking a skilled Veterinarian to join our team at Alta Vista Animal Hospital. As a critical care specialist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and working collaboratively with our team of experienced veterinarians and support staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing high-quality patient care and treatment in a fast-paced emergency environment
  • Collaborating with our team of veterinarians and support staff to ensure seamless patient care
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans for critically ill patients
  • Participating in continuing education and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in critical care
  • Contributing to a positive and supportive work environment
Requirements:
  • Valid Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, enabling practice in Canada
  • Member in good standing of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO)
  • Experience working in a 24-hour emergency facility
  • Strong leadership skills and a positive team player attitude
  • Excellent diagnostic skills and comfortable with routine emergency surgeries
  • Exemplary customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to handle shift work, including days, overnights, weekends, and holidays

About us: Alta Vista Animal Hospital is a busy and growing multidisciplinary hospital with a 24-hour Emergency Service, General Practice, and a team of six experienced specialists. We are located 20 minutes south of the vibrant downtown Ottawa Market and offer a diverse experience, a local community feel, and a caring culture of wellness and appreciation.

About the hospital: We operate out of a 24,500-square-foot facility with a full suite of on-site diagnostic imaging, including a Toshiba Aquilion 64 slice CT, .25T Vet MR MRI, Pulsera Fluoroscopy unit, Philips ultrasound and echocardiogram, Karl Storz endoscope, and two Sound digital radiograph suites.
