Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Locomotive Training Specialist to join our team at CP. As a key member of our Operations department, you will be responsible for delivering and supporting training programs aligned with our business strategies and performance targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver training programs for Operations staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Administer courses, programs, and examinations, and identify areas for improvement and revision.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop training plans and deliver training per curriculum.
  • Enter training records into our Learning Management System (LMS) and address emerging training issues.
  • Provide support to client groups, field managers, and new hires, ensuring a smooth onboarding process.
  • Evaluate trainees' on-the-job performance and maintain confidentiality of classes and employee results.
  • Assist Operations as a temporary field manager as required, providing leadership and guidance to teams.
  • Travel to provide training at remote terminals, ensuring our staff have the necessary skills to operate safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in Mechanical Locomotive department or a relevant field, with a strong understanding of Mechanical and Electrical systems and troubleshooting.
  • Expert knowledge of railroad operations and safety leadership experience, with the ability to apply business acumen to responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of the Instructional Design process and LMS systems, with the ability to design and deliver engaging training programs.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and management skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), with a valid driver's license.
