About the Job:

As a Caregiver with Interior Health Authority, you will be an integral part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team providing care and support in a long-term care setting. Working under the direction of Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses, you will have key responsibilities in the individual care plan for each patient, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are supported, while promoting maximum independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
  • Assisting with mobility, transfers, and related equipment
  • Performing nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse, and respiration
  • Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and condition
  • Accompanying clients on outings and during social activities
  • Performing clerical duties and delegated tasks


About this Role:

This is a casual opportunity with Interior Health Authority. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings, including permanent and temporary positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health Authority that begin with casual employment and lead to regular employment.

About the Location:

Coquihalla Gillis House embodies a client-centered philosophy designed to support clients' choices, help people function at their highest level, and provide the best quality of life possible. This facility is a one-storey, stand-alone complex care facility with 74 long-term care beds. Rooms consist of four, two, and single dwelling accommodations. There are ceiling track lifts in each room, and the rooms are wheelchair accessible.

Working in this role with Interior Health Authority offers a unique blend of outdoor adventure, cultural charm, and western hospitality in the southern interior of British Columbia. The region boasts breathtaking natural landscapes, offering boundless opportunities for hiking and biking along extensive trail networks. For those with a penchant for angling, the region boasts plenty of pristine lakes brimming with diverse species of fish. The area also offers a rich heritage and cultural attractions, including the Nicola Valley Museum and local art galleries.
