Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will provide routine record-keeping of financial transactions using leading-edge accounting and financial management systems. You will prepare and remit regulatory government filings, perform detailed account reconciliations, and conduct financial and variance analyses. You will also prepare interim and year-end financial statements and lead and/or review the work of Junior Accountants through delegation, training, oversight, and mentoring.

Responsibilities
  • Provide routine record-keeping of financial transactions using leading-edge accounting and financial management systems.
  • Prepare and remit regulatory government filings.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, conducting financial and variance analyses.
  • Prepare interim and year-end financial statements.
  • Lead and/or review the work of Junior Accountants through delegation, training, oversight, and mentoring.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education focused on accounting such as a diploma or Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-5+ years accounting experience.
  • CPA designation or CPA candidate; definite asset.
  • Proficient in using cloud-based accounting software such as QuickBooks Online.
  • Proficient in using and applying current and new technologies in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively prioritize work assignments for themselves and assigned team members.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, building and maintaining trusting client relationships.
  • Broad experience in managing general ledgers, bank/loan/account reconciliations, and tax remittances for medium and small-sized businesses.
  • Broad experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements and reports.
  • Experience in providing relevant and constructive guidance to team members and clients.
  • Capacity to assume responsibility in a leadership role for increasingly complicated tasks and assignments.
  • Team player, positively impacting and supporting colleagues.
  • Demonstrate discretion in handling confidential information.
