We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flower Grower to join our team at Grozone Greenhouse Ltd. as a Greenhouse Horticulture Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our greenhouse, ensuring the highest quality of plant production and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Greenhouse Management: Organize and manage the greenhouse operations, including the supervision of staff in planting, transplanting, feeding, and spraying.
- Quality Control: Monitor and control reported insect, disease, and weed problems to ensure the highest quality of plant production.
- Environmental Control: Establish and maintain the required environment for optimal plant growth, including temperature, humidity, and light levels.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise staff in various areas of responsibility, including greenhouse operations, plant care, and maintenance.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, including the ordering and receipt of supplies and materials.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of greenhouse operations, including temperature, humidity, and light levels, as well as staff hours and inventory levels.
- Education: College/CEGEP or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in greenhouse operations or a related field.
- Skills: Ability to distinguish between colors, attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, and walking, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Personal Qualities: Efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, initiative, judgment, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Work Environment: Floriculture production in a greenhouse setting.
- Work Setting: Relocation costs not covered by employer.
- Transportation: Own transportation required.
- Physical Demands: Physically demanding work, including handling heavy loads and working in a fast-paced environment.
- Parking: Parking available on site.
- Language: English.
- Hours of Work: 44 to 60 hours per week.
