Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Provincial Child Protection Specialist to join our team at the Government of Prince Edward Island.

Salary:

$70,000 - $90,000 per year (estimated), depending on experience.

Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to work in child protection, investigating and assessing reports of child abuse and neglect, providing support and resources to families, and mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations into child protection reports, interviewing family members and assessing living conditions.
  • Develop and implement service plans to ensure children's safety and enhance parental functioning.
  • Collaborate with police, medical professionals, and other stakeholders to address child abuse and neglect cases.
  • Mentor and provide case direction to junior staff.
  • Represent the Director of Child Protection in court as needed.

Requirements:

  • Degree in social work or a related field.
  • Experience in child protection or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
