Ambrose University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Music. Located in South West Calgary, we are a private, accredited Christian post-secondary institute offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Job Description

The successful candidate will complement our current expertise in Choral Music and Musicology by teaching elective courses in a secondary music area such as Applied Music (Instrument), Composition, Jazz Studies, Technology/Production, and/or Worship Arts. We offer a Bachelor of Music (BMus) or Bachelor of Arts in Music (3-year concentration or 4-year major) with study in history, theory, applied music, aural training, and additional courses specific to the student's career and educational direction.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preparing and teaching Music courses primarily in Music Theory sequence and Aural Skills.
  • Ongoing research, publication, and/or professional practice.
  • Regular committee work at departmental and university levels.
  • Academic advising and support for students involved in Ambrose productions and work-integrated learning opportunities.
Requirements

We seek an individual with a PhD in Music Theory or Composition, Doctor of Musical Arts or equivalent. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated success in post-secondary teaching, research, and composition, with a strong ability to integrate the Christian faith and the study of Music.
