About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Department Manager to join our Softgoods team at Sport Chek. As a key member of our retail operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of sales associates and driving sales growth in our Softgoods department.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and Develop Your Team: Coach and develop your department team by setting expectations, keeping open lines of communication, coaching on a continual basis, providing constructive feedback, and ongoing support.
  2. Build and Manage Sales Plans: Develop and implement daily sales plans for the department, focusing on driving sales growth and meeting sales targets.
  3. Customer Experience: As an ambassador and leader of the customer experience, you will develop relationships with customers and provide mentorship and coaching to your team to ensure exceptional customer service.
  4. Business Acumen: Demonstrate a customer-focused mindset and drive sales growth through effective planning, execution, and sales strategies.

Requirements
  1. Business Savvy: Minimum of 2 years in a retail environment, preferably at a supervisory level, with a proven track record of business growth and exceptional customer service skills.
  2. Leadership and Coaching: Proven leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to develop and motivate a team.
  3. Culture and Brand Fit: Demonstrated interest in or involvement in sports or the sporting goods industry, with a passion for the Sport Chek brand and values.
