Job Title: Shift Plumber/Fitter

At the Health Sciences Centre, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Shift Plumber/Fitter to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our building mechanical and plumbing systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, repair, install, modify, troubleshoot, and replace piping or mechanical building service, furnishing, or portable equipment or components within the Health Sciences Centre.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, or replacements on assigned plumbing/heating and mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Install equipment and systems in accordance with current applicable plumbing codes and HSC technical standards.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and user departments to maintain the integrity of all related Health Sciences Centre systems.
Requirements:
  • Minimum five years' experience in all phases of installation, maintenance, modification, inspection, and replacement of building mechanical and plumbing/heating services and equipment.
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Province of Manitoba or Interprovincial qualification as a Journeyman Plumber or Journeyman Fitter/Steamfitter required.
  • City of Winnipeg Cross Connection and Control Tester's License required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Province of Manitoba or Interprovincial qualification as both a Journeyman Plumber and Journeyman Fitter/Steamfitter.
  • Completion of a recognized Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, or Power Engineer curriculum, or relevant combination of mechanical experience and education/training satisfactory to the department.
Working Conditions:
  • Position often requires working from ladders, scaffolding, high-level platforms, or in confined spaces, enclosures, and crawlspaces.
  • Must be able to adjust to the demands of shift work schedule.
