Nursing Coordinator Role

Job Summary:
The Nursing Coordinator is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities on the medical unit. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with nursing professionals and other healthcare staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the care given by nursing professionals on the medical unit
- Oversee staff scheduling and ensure adequate staffing levels
- Maintain equipment and supplies necessary for the delivery of care
- Act as a role model for staff in promoting multi-disciplinary communication and co-ordination of care
Requirements:
- Ontario College of Nurses registration
- Baccalaureate Degree in nursing
- Oncology certificate
- CC1 or equivalent
- Experience in staff scheduling and knowledge of the ONA contract
- Minimum 5 years recent medical nursing experience
- Knowledge of, and experience with current legislation governing Nursing Clinical Practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Excellent assessment skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other health care professionals
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
- Willingness to coach and mentor new staff and students
- Willingness to participate in unit specific projects
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
- Adherence to Brightshores 'CARE' Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and 'LEAD' Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others)
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oncology nursing experience
- Experience in administering chemotherapy
