Data Protection Specialist

The City of Kamloops is seeking a permanent, full-time Data Protection Specialist to join our Enterprise Risk Management team.

This role requires a unique blend of problem-solving skills, creativity, and attention to detail to ensure compliance with FIPPA regulations.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in local government administration, public sector experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure FIPPA compliance
  • Provide training and support to employees on data protection best practices

Requirements:

  • Completion of a certificate in Local Government Administration or a post-secondary diploma with a focus on law, political science, or public administration
  • Minimum three years' administrative experience in a local government, public sector, or legal environment
  • Proficient in intermediate Word and intermediate Excel, as demonstrated through testing (70% pass rate required)
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, as demonstrated through testing (70% pass rate required)
