Diagnostic Neurophysiology Technologist

BC Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Neurophysiology Technologist, EEG to join our team. As a key member of our neurophysiology department, you will be responsible for performing digital and analogue Video/Electroencephalograms (EEG) procedures in the laboratory and at the bedside of critically ill patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform EEG procedures, including analogue and digital recordings, and interpret results to implement alternative methods or adjust controls to obtain optimal recording.
- Write comprehensive patient histories and direct test procedures accordingly, explaining the procedure to patients and family members present and answering any questions.
- Recognize and document artifact, eliminating or taking proper measures to monitor it, and apply EOG, EKG, EMG, and transducers to monitor physiologic activities.
- Perform ambulatory monitoring, applying electrodes and programming hard drives to collect data with appropriate parameters, and disconnecting patients, transferring collected data to the hospital network, and reformating hard drives.
- Graduation from an approved Electrophysiology Course with certification or a hospital-based training program from an approved institution, or two years recent experience including one year recent paediatric experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the Hospital.
- Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Registration with the Canadian or American Board of Registration for Electroencephalograph Technologists or T).
- Plus one additional registration achieved in one of the following areas: Registration with the Canadian or American Board of Registered EMG Technologists (RT(EMG) or T.), Registration with the American Board of Registered Evoked Potential Technologists T.), or Registration with the American Board of Registration in Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM).
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize workload.
- Ability to teach.
- Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents, including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan, and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study.
