Job Title: Health Safety Environment Specialist

The Aversan team is seeking a highly skilled Health Safety Environment Specialist to join our organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all health, safety, and environmental standards are met and recorded in our systems to maintain ISO compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the HSE strategy, management systems, and plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide advice, leadership, and hands-on support to project personnel to promote HSE principles and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Lead the analysis of accident, incident, and complaint investigations to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Deliver safety culture improvement programs to support behavioral improvements and ensure a positive safety culture.
  • Collaborate with the HSE/Facilities Manager to ensure training requirements and documented records are maintained.
  • Act as a liaison with the Safety Manager and support the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Report and investigate all accidents/incidents and facilitate form completion.
  • Liaise with external service contractors to ensure HSE compliance.
  • Manage the creation, monitoring, and resolution of corrective action requests.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk assessments, environmental aspect analysis, and general HSE processes and conditions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory, and company safety and environmental requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary certificate or degree in technology and/or health, safety, and environmental field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience with safety management systems.
  • First aid courses (levels 1, 2, or 3).
  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable Federal and Provincial legislation regarding Occupational Health and Safety plus any other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Joint Health & Safety Committee Certification.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
