Job Summary: As a Monitor/Aide at First Student, you will provide operational oversight, day-to-day management, and assist drivers in safe operation of routes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Know the route, remain alert, and monitor the welfare of passengers while in route.
- Communicate behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver.
- Assist in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
- Assist students in the loading and unloading process.
- Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, students, and parents.
- Attend all safety and training meetings.
- Conduct emergency evacuation from the bus, including use of exiting by emergency door.
- Open and close service doors and move up and down steps multiple times daily.
- Clean the inside of the bus.
- Assist driver when necessary to safely direct the vehicle backwards.
Requirements:
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Early morning availability.
- Judgement/problem solving skills.
- Ability to manage high degrees of stress.
