Job Description

As a Purchasing Specialist, you will oversee the entire purchasing process, from drafting and approving purchase orders to verifying the receipt of goods. You will negotiate favorable pricing and terms with suppliers, ensuring cost-effective purchasing decisions. You will also foster and maintain strong relationships with current suppliers while actively identifying and onboarding new vendors.

You will collaborate with warehouse and sales teams to effectively manage inventory levels and meet company demands. You will ensure all purchased products are received in compliance with specifications and handle any discrepancies or quality issues with suppliers. Additionally, you will stay informed of market trends to drive cost savings and operational improvements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Strong organizational and negotiation skills
- Proficient in procurement software, databases, and other relevant technologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration or a related field. Professional certification in Supply Chain Management is a strong asset. A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience, with at least 2-3 years in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the steel or metal manufacturing industries, is required. Proven experience in drafting and managing purchase orders, solid vendor management, and contract negotiation skills are essential.
