About the Role

RhynoCare is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team in Stratford. As a Cook in our partnered facilities, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the nutritional needs of residents are met with delicious and wholesome meals.

Responsibilities
  • Meal Preparation: Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals in accordance with dietary requirements and menu plans, ensuring all standards are met.
  • Food Safety: Ensure meals are served at the appropriate temperature and in a timely manner, adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Resident Service: Assist with the serving of meals to residents, respecting their food preferences and ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor food inventory and communicate with the appropriate channels to coordinate ordering of supplies.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with dietary staff to develop menus that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of residents.
  • Cost Control: Assist the Food and Nutrition Manager in controlling food costs, waste, and ordering.
Requirements
  • Certification: Successful completion and/or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Certification: Chef/Cook Certification from a recognized community college, preferably Red Seal.
  • Experience: Experience in a Long Term Care setting or with seniors is preferred, but institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality cooking experience accepted.
  • Clearance: Vulnerable Sector Check within 6 months.
  • Vaccination: Proof of COVID-19 vaccination in accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care's Long-term care home COVID-19 immunization policy.
Skills
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must have a sincere interest in people, the elderly in particular, and possess a genuine sensitivity to their needs.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to effectively handle the physical aspects of the position, including bending, standing, lifting, and working in a range of temperatures.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written in English) skills are required.
