Farmhand Position in Ontario

Job Overview:
Jobma is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Farmhand to join our team in Leamington, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting activities of the Heinz Seed breeding program, including but not limited to seeding, transplanting, plot and greenhouse upkeep, field sampling/data collection, seed harvesting, hybrid crossing, and other seasonal and general duties.
Schedule:
The position requires full-time work from Monday to Friday, with a schedule that includes working hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. This role may require extended periods of time working outdoors under different weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Perform greenhouse crop upkeep tasks, including pruning, clipping, and tying up of plants.
- Assist in tomato hybrid crossing in the greenhouse and field.
- Contribute to seasonal operational tasks, such as seeding, transplanting, weed control, harvesting tomatoes for seed, testing, and data collection.
- Clean the Greenhouse and designated work area.
- Report signs of insect or disease damage.
- Assist in special projects as needed.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior agriculture experience is an asset.
- Proficiency in utilizing a computer to complete various aspects of the job, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
- The ability to analyze, organize, solve problems, communicate effectively, perform duties as requested, work as a team, and individually.
- A high level of detail and accuracy.
- The ability to work outdoors for extended periods under different weather conditions.
- A valid driver's license, as you may drive a company vehicle.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Compensation:
