Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Liaison Nurse to join our team in the Emergency Department at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will play a vital role in providing person-centered and recovery-oriented care to patients with psychiatric needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform psychosocial assessments and develop care plans for patients with psychiatric needs, in collaboration with the interprofessional care team.
  • Provide crisis intervention and direct patient care to patients with psychiatric needs, in accordance with hospital policy and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Emergency Department staff and other allied health department service providers to ensure effective patient flow and timely admission to psychiatric services.
  • Document assessments, care plans, and patient outcomes in accordance with practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and research to improve patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing plus current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • One (1) year recent related experience in an acute or community Mental Health & Substance Use setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team.
  • Ability to promote person-centered care that demonstrates empathy for patients/families/care givers, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, including advocacy for special populations.
