About the Role:
Riverside Natural Foods is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Innovation and Product Development to lead our Research and Development function. As a key member of our Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for driving innovation and commercialization of new products and processes, while ensuring the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coach a team of food scientists and engineers to develop and commercialize new products and processes.
- Develop and maintain a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the R&D function.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant food industry certifications, regulations, and quality parameters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the food industry, particularly in the snack category.
- Identify opportunities to enhance existing products and develop new ones that meet customer needs and preferences.
- Develop and maintain relationships with equipment and ingredient vendors to ensure the best possible products and services.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal and external partners.
- Ensure the R&D function is aligned with the company's overall strategy and goals.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in leadership roles in Research and Development, preferably in the CPG industry.
- Undergraduate degree in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
- Experience in manufacturing, quality, or other technical functions is an asset.
- Strong leadership and team development skills, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, with a strong focus on delivering results.
- Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of the food industry and market trends.
