At 837 GlaxoSmithKline Inc., we are seeking a Medical Science Liaison to join our team in British Columbia.

Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Medical Science Liaison to play a key role in our medical affairs team. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying their scientific knowledge to ensure the safe and effective use of GSK's products through impactful scientific interactions and support of external and internal stakeholders.

The MSL will collaborate with field partners to provide credible scientific clinical information about our vaccines to healthcare professionals, external experts, organizations, and decision-makers. This role is a therapeutically aligned, field-based position requiring frequent travel within British Columbia.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Establish and maintain scientific peer-to-peer relationships with key external experts by presenting balanced scientific data, supporting advanced medical educational opportunities, and providing scientific support following GSK values, policies, standards, laws, and regulations.
  2. Maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of diseases, vaccines, treatments, and the competitive landscape to ensure excellent scientific dialogue and clinical knowledge translation aligned with business strategy.
  3. Engage and provide value across a continuum of both internal and external stakeholders (i.e., external experts and other healthcare professionals, investigators, professional societies, organizations, advocacy groups, and decision-makers) in a non-promotional manner and be responsive to unsolicited inquiries.
  4. Represent GSK at scientific congresses by leading external expert engagement plans, providing session/abstract coverage, booth staffing coverage, and contributing to scientific end-of-congress summaries/share-backs as required.
  5. Provide scientific training for GSK commercial colleagues regarding GSK products and the conditions they treat utilizing approved sales training materials.
  6. Assist the medical, clinical, and HEOR teams with evidence generation projects as needed, and support identification of potential clinical trial sites for clinical development activities in Canada as required.
Qualifications
  1. Excellent English scientific/medical discussion (fluent written and verbal communication)
  2. An advanced post-graduate scientific degree (MD, Ph.D., PharmD)
  3. Successful candidates must reside within British Columbia
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on cross-functional teamwork and strategic execution of the medical affairs plan in alignment with overarching business strategy within your territory
  5. Knowledge of regulations governing medical information exchange with healthcare professionals within the Canadian pharmaceutical environment
  6. Sound negotiation, territory and team leadership, and organization skills
  7. Familiarity with reimbursement processes in Canada
  8. A valid driver's license is required for this field-based position
  9. Ability to travel throughout the territory up to 70% with evenings and weekends involved
