This is a unique opportunity to join the City of Kelowna's Airport Finance and Corporate Services team as an HR Advisor. As an HR Advisor, you will play a key role in providing proactive and strategic human resources consultation and advice to Airport management and staff.
This is a part-time position that requires a high degree of independence, with the ability to interpret client needs, assess requirements, and identify solutions. You will work closely with the Airport Human Resources and Occupational Health Manager to build capability, implement HR systems and programs, and ensure teams are working optimally.
Key responsibilities include providing advice, guidance, and interpretation of HR policy, guidelines, procedures, processes, and data within prescribed guidelines. You will also assist management in collective agreement interpretation and administration within prescribed guidelines, deliver HR solutions to meet business requirements, and conduct employee relations activities such as conflict management and coaching on performance management and discipline within prescribed guidelines.
To be successful in this role, you will require a post-secondary diploma in human resources management or a related discipline and a minimum of three years' directly related generalist experience. Broad HR experience in various disciplines, including occupational health and safety, compensation, talent management, performance management, and employee relations is preferred.
In addition, a valid BC driver's license and a satisfactory driver's abstract are required. Ability to obtain and maintain a restricted area identification card (RAIC) is also required. Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred, as is CPHR designation. Previous related experience gained from working at an airport authority or in an airport environment, or working in local government is an asset.
The salary range for this position is $84,066.52 to $98,077.61 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Most candidates can expect to start in the lower to mid-range of this scale, with opportunities for salary growth based on performance and tenure. In addition, the successful candidate will be eligible for 14% in lieu of benefits.
