Job Description:

This is a 6-month contract opportunity for a Plant Operator to work near Christina Lake, AB. The role involves rotational shifts in a camp environment with flights available from Edmonton and Calgary.

Main Function:

The primary function of a Plant Operator is to coordinate operational activities to meet production, project, and maintenance objectives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop process plans to support Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management systems.
  2. Conduct risk assessments, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA), to ensure a safe working environment.
  3. Participate in emergency response activities and required training.
  4. Perform condition monitoring, including sampling and testing, and support related operations.
  5. Utilize SAP as the tool for repair notifications.
  6. Obtain personal competencies aligned to operating areas.
  7. Report all near misses and incidents, participating in investigations using Omni Safe.
  8. Follow safe chemical handling procedures and minimize environmental impact.
  9. Understand and follow procedures addressing process impacts on air, water, and soil.
  10. Follow MOC Statute processes for identified changes, updating procedures or documentation as needed.
  11. Participate in document and procedure development.
  12. Follow review cycles criteria and provide updates to HDMS.
  13. Support HSE requirements, policies, and procedures.
  14. Understand role relative to the Alberta Power Engineers Regulation under the Safety Codes Act and the alignment to the Operations Progression Manual.

Qualifications:

  • A valid 3rd Class Engineer Certificate with 3-5 years of experience or a 4th Class certificate with 5-10 years of experience.
  • Basic PC proficiency and expertise with Word, Excel, email, and SAP.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and writing skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making abilities.
