Senior Pipeline Technical Director Job Description

About the Role:

This position is a hybrid role, with 2-3 days spent onsite at a designated Company location and occasional remote work. As a Senior Pipeline Technical Director at Industrial Light & Magic, you will provide direct support to productions and artists, ensuring the smooth operation of pipeline tools in a fast-paced, feature film visual effects production environment.

About You:

  • You have a strong background in computer science or a related technical field and at least 8 years of experience in visual effects for film, commercials, or television.
  • You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively collaborate with cross-discipline teams and provide innovative solutions to pipeline issues.
  • You are proficient in Linux and Python scripting and have experience developing tools in one or more of Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Mari, Katana, or RenderMan.

About the Position:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling complex challenges, guiding colleagues, and working on longer-term project work. This includes:

  • Providing front-line production assistance across various disciplines, troubleshooting assets and shots, and helping artists with general problem-solving.
  • Developing pipeline and asset management tools to meet immediate production demands, ensuring facility-wide consistency as directed by show and technical supervisors.
  • Collaborating directly with engineering teams on technical projects, driving the development and evolution of standards and conventions used in production.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring range for this position in Vancouver is C$122,400 to C$156,800 per year, based on a 40-hour work week. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
