Job Description

As the Financial Risk Management Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting and implementing a strong risk culture within our organization. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring risk performance metrics, providing robust risk training to team members, and assessing, evaluating, mitigating, reporting, and ongoing monitoring of fraud risk related to our Issuing and Money Movement product lines.

You will be part of our first line of defense, reporting directly to the VP, Payments Risk. Your expertise will help us stay ahead of emerging risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as finance or risk management
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the financial services industry
  • Experience designing and implementing process improvements or change management initiatives is an asset
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to drive positive outcomes
  • A deep understanding of how your work contributes to our organization's business strategy
  • Ability to develop cooperative working relationships with colleagues and clients
About the Day-to-Day

Your day-to-day activities will encompass:

  • Oversight of issuing program and partner performance, including creation and review of reports
  • Transaction monitoring for fraud indicators, as well as assisting with portfolio exposure management
  • Monitoring and analyzing fraud risk across card programs and Program Managers to ensure risk is managed within our tolerance thresholds
  • Facilitating client communications to investigate material increases in fraud Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and working towards successful fraud mitigation
  • Reviewing or creating fraud risk policies and standard operating procedures, making recommendations for changes as needed
  • Liaising with other functions, such as Corporate Compliance, ERM, Financial Crime, and Internal Audit
  • Engaging with Senior Management and business unit leaders on matters related to oversight and management of fraud risk
