Electrical Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to lead the design and implementation of electrical systems in industrial settings. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and the ability to deliver high-quality designs on time while ensuring safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and validate electrical systems and equipment in industrial settings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop electrical power distribution designs for large-scale projects.
  • Provide expertise in lighting, fire alarms, communication systems, and process control for both new and existing buildings.
  • Manage projects involving electrical infrastructure, including high voltage (up to 44kV) power distribution.
  • Perform detailed analysis and troubleshooting of technical issues, offering practical recommendations and solutions.
  • Develop and review engineering specifications, contract documentation, and project progress reports.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to industry codes, safety standards, and client requirements.
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and technicians, reviewing and marking up designs to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Design primary and secondary power distribution systems, including high and low-voltage equipment.
  • Conduct site visits to inspect electrical installations, ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as a technical consultant, both in-house and on-site, providing expert advice and troubleshooting support.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, preferably in Food & Beverage or Pharmaceuticals.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC controls and Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
  • Proven experience with electrical system design, particularly in a consulting or project management capacity.
  • Familiarity with complex electrical distribution networks, including cogeneration systems.
  • Ability to travel to client sites as required, with reliable personal transportation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
