Synopsys Canada ULC is seeking a highly skilled High-Speed Analog and Mixed-Signal Circuit Design Expert to join our R&D team. As part of this team, you will be responsible for developing high-speed integrated circuits for DDR/LPDDR PHY, High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) PHY, and Mobile Storage PHY IPs.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced engineer who can design, optimize, and verify analog and mixed-signal circuits. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of transistor-level circuit design, CMOS design fundamentals, and FinFET technologies.

The successful candidate will work closely with our cross-functional team to develop innovative solutions that meet the demands of modern electronics. Key responsibilities include:

  • Design optimization: Identify and refine circuit designs for optimal power, area, and performance.
  • Verification strategies: Propose and implement efficient design verification methods.
  • Physical layout: Oversee layout to minimize parasitic effects, device stress, and process variation.
  • Simulation and presentation: Present simulation data for peer and customer review.
  • Documentation: Document design features and test plans.
  • Electrical characterization: Consult on the electrical characterization of your circuit within the IP product.

About the Salary

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $120,000-$180,000 CAD, depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 2+ years of experience, or a MSc in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years of experience in analog IC design.
  • In-depth familiarity with transistor-level circuit design, CMOS design fundamentals, and FinFET technologies.
  • Experience with FinFET technologies and detailed design experience with at least one DDR or SerDes sub-circuit.
  • Familiarity with custom digital design, including high-speed logic paths.
  • Knowledge of design for reliability, including EM, IR, aging, etc., and layout effects, including matching, reliability, proximity effects, etc.
  • Experience with tools for schematic entry, physical layout, and design verification, as well as SPICE simulators and Verilog-A for analog behavioral modeling and simulation-control/data-capture.
  • Scripting languages such as TCL, Perl, C, Python, MATLAB, or other scripting languages are desired.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
