We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist II to join our team in the Medical and Surgical Inpatient Units at BC Children's and Women's Hospital & Health Centre in Vancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and treatment programs for clients/patients in the Medicine/Surgical Inpatient units.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to assessment and treatment issues, utilizing advanced clinical knowledge and reasoning.
- Document client/patient information, including relevant clinical data, assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and outcomes.
- Assess the need for specific client/patient equipment, including home/lifestyle adaptations, and assist clients/patients and families to obtain necessary equipment.
- Maintain effective communication with clients/patients, families, and caregivers to foster optimal progress and develop supportive, collaborative, and therapeutic relationships.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary groups and teams, providing consultation, clinical advice, input, and suggestions related to client/patient management.
- Contribute to professional committees/teams and designated programs, attending meetings and providing written/verbal advanced knowledge to promote improvements in occupational therapy and interdisciplinary practice.
- Baccalaureate in Occupational Therapy and licensure with the College of Health Care and Professionals of British Columbia.
- Two (2) years of recent related experience, including one (1) year in pediatrics or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- 50 hours of post-graduate coursework/training related to additional procedures, techniques, and job functions for assigned area.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, one-on-one, and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, motivator, and facilitator.

- Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents, including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan, and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism, and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments.
