Job Title: Senior Accountant, Corporate Reporting

Tricon Residential is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant, Corporate Reporting to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations and detailed variance analytics to ensure accuracy and compliance with IFRS or US GAAP.
  • Record journal entries, including month-end entries, eliminations, intercompany, and other transactions, to maintain the integrity of our financial records.
  • Review and post journal entries prepared by junior staff to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Perform month-end and quarter-end closing procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams in the US to coordinate month-end and quarter-end close processes and perform a detailed review of results.
  • Assist in the design and preparation of corporate financial statements and supplemental disclosures to provide stakeholders with accurate and transparent financial information.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and other financial reports for internal and external stakeholders to inform business decisions.
  • Assist in the setup of new joint ventures and securitization transactions, where applicable, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Improve and document month-end procedures and workbooks to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
  • Supervise and coach junior staff to develop their skills and knowledge in accounting and financial reporting.
Requirements:
  • Must be a CPA or on track to become a CPA to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • 3+ years of industry or firm experience, preferably in the Big 4, to demonstrate expertise in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP accounting and financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience with consolidation and elimination entries preferred to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Residential real estate experience would be an asset to demonstrate expertise in this area.
  • A self-starter who is able to work independently in a fast-paced and challenging environment to meet deadlines and deliver results.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and adheres to high standards for work quality to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with a good work ethic and willingness to learn to develop skills and knowledge in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, to analyze and present financial data.
