Pharmacy Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of medication dispensing and processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to patients, clients, or residents.
  • Receive prescriptions from practitioners and verify their completeness and authenticity.
  • Prepare and process prescriptions by counting, measuring, packaging, or re-packaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions by verifying order entries and performing final checks.
  • Process prescriptions for temporary inpatient leaves of absence and transfer prescriptions to and from other pharmacies.
  • Enter and maintain accurate records of medication verification and quality assurance checks.
  • Distribute medications and maintain relevant inventory, wardstock, and narcotic records.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively and physically able to carry out the duties of the position.
