We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead for our News Technology team. As a key member of our technical operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of technicians and providing on-going support and maintenance for our on-air and production equipment.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in broadcast engineering, with experience in leading teams and managing technical projects. You will be responsible for providing direction and leadership to the News Technology team, inspiring team members to seek best-in-class solutions, and working closely with the Manager, News Technology and News Operations to ensure effective technical support is provided to both departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the News Technology team and provide on-going support and maintenance for on-air and production equipment.
- Provide direction and leadership to the team, inspiring them to seek best-in-class solutions.
- Work closely with the Manager, News Technology and News Operations to ensure effective technical support is provided to both departments.
- Manage personnel schedules to ensure support during all hours of News and OTT recordings.
- Ensure the quality and timeliness of the team's deliverables.
- Manage direct report timesheet and vacation schedules.
- Work directly with equipment vendors and suppliers to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Promote and represent Corus in a positive manner.
About You
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced broadcast engineer with a strong background in leading teams and managing technical projects. You will have a certificate or degree in Broadcast Technology, Electronics or equivalent, and 10-15 years of experience in broadcast engineering. You will also have knowledge of production studio and control room equipment, automation, graphics, and other systems related to live broadcast news production.
What We Need From You:
- Certificate or degree in Broadcast Technology, Electronics or equivalent.
- 10-15 years of broadcast engineering experience.
- Knowledge of production studio and control room equipment, automation, graphics, and other systems related to live broadcast news production.
- Working knowledge of computers, networking and server based technologies.
- Knowledge of current video streaming technologies.
- Some experience working on equipment associated with live news trucks, microwave and satellite communications would be an asset.
