Job Summary: GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our Fleet Maintenance team. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostic work on a wide range of mobile and stationary equipment. This includes completing repairs on all mechanical systems, participating in the GFL safety program, and ensuring repaired equipment is properly tested for correct performance and operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostic work on a wide range of mobile and stationary equipment
  • Complete repairs on all mechanical systems as required, including engines, transmissions, driveline, brake systems, hydraulic systems, etc.
  • Participate in the GFL safety program and ensure compliance with all GFL and Fleet Maintenance safety standards, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure repaired equipment is properly tested for correct performance and operation
  • Utilize excellent organizational skills to complete accurate, legible, and descriptive documentation for all completed repairs
  • Install or fabricate aftermarket equipment and components as assigned
  • Communicate effectively with Shop Foreman, Lead Hand, and Parts Coordinator

Requirements:

  • Apprentice or Journeyman Certificate
  • Experience with the SGI Motor Vehicle Inspection Program
  • Class 5 Drivers License with a clean drivers abstract required, 1A or 3A Driver's License preferred
  • Strong Mechanical and troubleshooting abilities on a wide range of machinery and equipment
