Cardiovascular Perfusion Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Perfusionist to join our team at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. As a Perfusionist, you will play a critical role in the delivery of extracorporeal circulatory support during cardiovascular surgical procedures, ECMO, VADs, and intra-aortic balloon counter-pulsation.

1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate circulatory support for assigned patients during cardiovascular surgery in collaboration with the Surgeon and Anesthesiologist.
2. Plan, organize, and prioritize activities based on individual patient needs and scheduled procedures, adjusting priorities as needed in response to unanticipated events.
3. Perform therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician, including drug administration, blood product administration, oxygen administration, and inhalational anaesthetic gas administration.

• Operate Cell Saver and other therapies in consultation with the physician, including Red Blood Cell Sequestration.
• Assume responsibility for the operation of intra-aortic balloon counter-pulsation devices, temporary pacing devices, and ventricular assistive devices in consultation with the physician.
• Manage continuous quality assurance planning using quality improvement tools, including Perfusion Data Files.
• Participate in the development of risk management strategies for all procedures relating to Perfusion.

• Certified or Certification eligible by The Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion required.
• Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion is an asset.
• Proven ability to attend work regularly.
• Satisfactory criminal reference check and vulnerable sector search required.
