Strategic Financial Planning Manager

About the Role:

Rakuten Kobo Inc. is a leading e-commerce company that enhances the way people shop by offering Cash Back, deals and rewards from more than 3,500 merchants. As a Strategic Financial Planning Manager, you will be on the forefront of financial performance and will work cross-functionally to deliver intelligence on key metrics and strategic recommendations on go-forward strategy to shape the direction of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze market trends to formulate growth strategies and identify business opportunities, implementing appropriate actions to maximize financial objectives from both a bottom-up and top-down approach.
  • Analyze and model potential deals with merchants based on profitability outcomes, including pricing changes, establishing pricing structures for new products and merchants.
  • Forecast, trend watch, monitor Return on Ad Spend (ROAS), and analyze promotional performance, revenue, and gross margin monitoring, in addition to ad-hoc analysis based on business needs.
  • Own Revenue and Gross Margin (GM) forecasting at a Category/Merchant and Buyer level, monitoring, reporting, and escalating revenue and margin risks associated with merchant commission changes, reversals, reseller impact, and fraud.
  • Partner with senior leadership to determine organizational objectives on a strategic annual/monthly/weekly basis for the company.
  • Build the company's annual revenue and margin budget, while monitoring and reforecasting in-season performance, and provide key insights for overall P&L reporting and analysis.
  • Develop weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting to stakeholders, including media and commission targets, and distribute to relevant parties.
  • Develop predictive models to determine the impact of deals on the larger business, impact of commission creases and revenue share deals.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years relevant work experience, preferably in Revenue Planning, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), retail or e-commerce.
  • Experience with top-down and bottom-up planning.
  • Strong ability to create structure and build new processes.
  • Quantitative mindset and analytic capabilities.
  • Tableau/self-service Business Intelligence (BI) platform experience, with a plus for understanding SQL.
  • Moderate/advanced executive communication skills.
