Job Summary

The Dietitian Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality nutritional care to patients in accordance with the standards of the College of Dietitians of Ontario and Mackenzie Health's nutrition care policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and ensure seamless patient care.
  • Address and resolve issues in a productive and respectful manner, utilizing effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment, adhering to best practice guidelines and evidence-based research to inform nutritional care decisions.
  • Contribute to a safe and inclusive environment for all patients and staff, adhering to patient and staff safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Current Registration and good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • Graduate of a recognized university program in food and nutrition, with successful completion of a Dietetic Internship or Practicum.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate.
  • Two years of clinical experience preferred, with previous experience in medicine being an asset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to discern relevant information to make effective judgments and decisions to manage patient care.
  • Demonstrates strong assessment skills, organizational skills, and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to work in a computerized healthcare environment, with excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Ability to speak a second language, an asset.
  • Ability to function independently and collaborate with the healthcare team, ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Proven attendance record and commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients.
