Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC) is a national non-profit association that represents over 7,000 speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and communication health assistants.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be a proactive brand ambassador and public affairs expert, passionate about promoting SAC's mission and elevating the profile of speech-language pathology and audiology.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute communications strategies that enhance SAC's public image, influence policy discussions, and engage members.
- Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of SAC's overall communications strategy, with a focus on aligning efforts with advocacy objectives and public affairs priorities.
- Write and review content that supports advocacy work, including newsletters, op-eds, press releases, and other media materials.
- Help manage the communications department's planning calendar, broadcast email calendar, and various other production schedules.
- Monitor media coverage and public sentiment related to speech-language pathology, audiology, and healthcare policy.
- Help manage SAC's response to media inquiries and prepare spokespeople for interviews and public speaking engagements.
- Develop and execute social media strategies to achieve association objectives, increase brand visibility, and drive user engagement.
- Three to five years of professional work experience in public affairs, communications, advocacy, or a related field.
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma in a field that relates to communications.
- Language: Native Proficiency in French or an advanced level of Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred for this position.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Working knowledge of Mailchimp, Survey Monkey, and Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and social media management tools.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and meet deadlines on multiple projects.
